Francois has just come from a special meeting with the queen, and is proud of his reward!—a most splendid, shiny royal acorn, infused with parsley, thyme and a hint of cocoa. The smell is intoxicating! (As you could imagine).

Young Emiliano loves nothing more than to get up early when his family is asleep and practice on his guitar, high up above and away up into the sky.

The older I get, the more I enjoy the morning, when everyone is asleep, the sounds of quiet fill the house, and there is sweet promise for the new day ahead.

“Jean-Louis from Paris”

A little portrait of Jean-Louis from Paris! This portrait was taken before Jean-Louis got himself into a bit of trouble! He had been entrusted with buying six croissants and one small wheel of cheese from the local boulangerie and fromagerie for a visit later that afternoon with his aunt and uncle from Ballywhee. However, somehow when he came home, there remained only three croissants and a half eaten wheel of cheese. It appears that the crumbs on his jacket gave him away. It was not fair to reprimand him, cried Jean-Louis softly, because his parents sent him on the errand before he had his lunch, and he had only had a little milk for breakfast.

Wipe your tears little Jean-Louis—it's true—you should never go food shopping when you are hungry!

Lady Aurora

A lady of some distinction—Aurora is a curious squirrel. On occasion, she has an extra special way of moving through the trees at night, dropping starlight like seeds into the sweet dreams of her beloved young woodland kits. The little ones know she has been for a visit when they wake up with the same lilting melody in their heads. It is not uncommon to hear them all giddily singing in unison upon a fair woodland sunrise.

Finn, a young chipmunk wanting to visit his Gramma Basil, has somehow misunderstood how the postal service works. Postal worker McPrinkle will explain it to him, and give him a ride to his Gramma's on his official bicycle.

A simple portrait of Pernell relaxing at his vacation home off the coast of West Fringlesham Knoll. He needed a short break to recuperate from his grueling touring schedule, promoting his third successful play about Harkington Frillsworth, the Woodland's most notable traveling surgeon.

“A Merry Band of Sorts”

When the summer festivals loom around the corner after a long winter and unpredictable spring, you can be sure you'll see this merry band of friends traveling together, sharing songs, telling stories and inventing impressive acrobatic dances to entertain the Woodland audiences they chance to meet.

Antoine leads the percussion ensemble, and Leopold, Horace and Cynthia perform swimmingly despite when Albrecht chimes in with unexpected birdsong. He so dearly wishes to join the group, but open auditions don't start for another month yet, and he hasn't perfected his bell technique.

Here we see these accomplished percussionists awaiting direction from the maestro, who is not in view.

If you've ever been part of a musical group, you know that all important moment when all eyes are on the conductor or leader for the cue to start their performance.

The Raspberry

Cecilia was so surprised by the wind and rain while delivering letters to the post office, that she dropped all the letters, in sacrifice to preserving the raspberry she found along the way.

Reminds me of when I insist on carrying as many things at once as I can, even though I know it probably won’t end well (usually involves coffee spilling).

Priscilla is studying music theory with Professor Bugglesworth at the local woodland academy. She's glad he's not here right now to hear her mistakes, but is glad when he corrects her at her lessons, because she learns a lot.

Miss Julia is feeling fetching in her new evening gown! She is excited to be going to the woodland solstice ball where there will be music, petit fours and carrot finger sandwiches. And then she hopes to find time with the other bunnies of the Woodland Philosophical Society, so she can discuss her new views on Plato's Theory of Forms.

Chester's Serenade

“A Lyrical Nap”

A splendid spot for an afternoon nap in the meadow—Julian is very content. If you were there to witness this in person, you'd get an earful of the delightful buzzing, humming sounds and overtones from the combination of the ukelele sound hole and Alexander's snoring, which is more like a soft wheezing.
